p 695: At present Raman spectroscopy in both the back scattering and right angle configurations offers a promising prospect for probing the long LO-phonon double interface and guided modes in DHS (double heterostructure). The average mode separation predicted for our particular choice of parameters in GaAs heterostructures is unfortunately at best too close to the instrumental linewidth of about 2cm^{-1} (Colvard-GKMFMG-1985 PRB31, 2080). Our choice of parameters is in fact typical for GaAs heterostructures and therefore for these the observation of the guided and double interface modes by light scattering may be difficult..."

p696: It is important to note that in GaAs superlattices a structure in the LO-phonon spectrum between omega_1 and omega_2^{(1)} was in fact observed by Sai-Halasz-PYE-1978 Solid State Comms 25, 281; Surf. Sci. 73, 232). However the recent right angle spectra (Zucker-PCGW-1984 PRL53, 1280) revealed no such structure...
